For Holiday 2013, Deborah Lippmann turned to the luxurious textures of silk from exotic places for inspiration. The result is Deborah’s limited edition Silk Collection, a collection of three shades in her new matteen finish.

I first showed you the shades from Deborah Lippmann’s Silk Collection when I wrote about the runway looks she created for New York Fashion Week.

This time I have swatches of two out of the three shades (Red Silk Boxers will follow very soon, I promise) along with a fun sponge mani I did using all three colors.

All three shades are matte with a shimmery sheen. Super pretty. Let’s start with Pseudo Silk Kimono, one of my favorites.

Deborah describes this as “milky alabaster white.” That’s accurate. I love the look of this polish – it’s white but not Liquid Paper white – its sheen gives it a softness and pearl-like quality. I used three coats. Careful application is a must with these matteen shades because they are prone to showing brushstrokes. But this shade is totally worth the effort.

Although this polish was meant to be worn without a top coat, I wanted to see how it looked glossy so I added a layer. Pseudo Silk Kimono is also pretty when glossy.

This is Harem Silks From Bombay.

Deborah describes this as “bodacious boysenberry.” I love this one too. It’s a dark, edgy, sexy matteen shade. I used three coats.

One look at Harem Silks From Bombay and you know instantly that there is crazy shimmer hiding in that polish. One layer of top coat released the crazy sparkle. I love this shade, I love it with and without top coat.

I decided to use these shades to create a sponge mani. I started with Red Silk Boxers over a Pseudo Silk Kimono base.

Then I added Harem Silks From Bombay on top of those two shades.
